Intelligently connecting knowledge flows
The Saxony5 cooperative, interdisciplinary transfer network is dedicated to making more intensive use of the knowledge generated at universities for collaboration with society and industry, as well as for joint R&D projects in the Saxony innovation region. In this collaborative research project, the expertise and resources of the five Saxon Universities of Applied Sciences (HAW for short) in Dresden, Leipzig, Zwickau, Zittau/Görlitz and Mittweida are pooled within a Smart University Grid. The aim is to promote the intelligent networking of knowledge flows on the basis of a joint transfer strategy. As an active partner in sub-project 5,Additive Manufacturing,FLEX is developing the Smart Manufacturing Lab (SML). At the heart of this experimental workshop laboratory is a state-of-the-art industrial robot. This is to be used to develop strategies for customised, automated manufacturing utilising additive manufacturing technologies.
