Andreas Gallschütz, BSc (Biology)

Andreas Gallschütz, who grew up in Halle (Saale), completed his degree in biology at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and submitted his dissertation in 2013 in collaboration with the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology. 

His professional experience in various sectors over the following years led to a realisation of the need to complement the natural sciences with an engineering perspective. Interdisciplinarity is key to both societal and personal development. Consequently, he has been studying civil engineering at HTWK Leipzig since 2024. This bridging of disciplines is linked to the idea of developing innovative, environmentally friendly and efficient solutions to address current societal challenges by incorporating aspects of building biology and building ecology.

As part of the FLEX team, he supports the ‘Climate Sensitive Shades’ research project and takes on a wide range of other tasks.

In his spare time, he enjoys having a hand-breadth of water beneath his keel, cycling through the city or letting his eardrums be re-tuned at a concert.
